HalloNEEN Traditions

As this is a NEW HOLIDAY, we can begin the process of creating our own traditions. Of course the namesake of this Holiday shall have ultimate say over what stays & what goes. Maybe every year is different?

Costumes!

Feel free to recycle your Halloween costume! You put a bunch of work into it, why only wear it once a year? And sure, maybe you did half-ass it in October, but now is the time for you to update it the second time around and no one will have opinions about wearing the same costume two years in a row.

Foods!

  • Champagne Cocktail (recipe varies by year)
  • Sparkling Apple Cider
  • Chocolate Cake
  • Ceremonial Popcorn Popping (please use lid)

Decorations

Purple Stars! Purple Stars!

Mystery present exchange

1. Everyone brings one perishable or consumable present for someone else with no name on it.

2. Give it to anyone in the room. That person unwraps the present and has to figure out who the present is for. (that’s the mystery part!)

3. The gift recipient can ask for help from ONE other person but not the gift-giver) The team has to figure out the mystery and then give the gift to the correct person.

Merriment Embellishments

For those who don’t bring their own costume to halloNeen, Merriment Embellishments will be available to borrow.  All attendees must be wearing at LEAST one of the following:

  • Gloves
  • Wig
  • Cat Ears
  • Crown
  • Feather Boa
  • Extraordinarily Long Sets of Beads
  • Mustache

If Merriment Embellishments are not worn, the party goer must declare “I AM A HALLONEENIE WEENIE” upon greeting each and every other guest at the party.

Quiet Hour

An hour of silence. Everyone has to be quiet and not touch anyone for an hour

Murder, She Wrote

Assuming celebrants are safely home & in appropriately comfy clothing, one episode of Murder, She Wrote should be watched although not all need to be completely involved in this part. As long as they refrain from snarky backbencher commentary during the episode.
